2007: Baja Cruise
Home Up 2007: Baja Cruise 2008: New England Cruise 2009: Alaska Cruisetour

On Labor Day, 2007, we took our first ever cruise.  The cruise itinerary was to depart from San Diego, travel to Cabo San Lucas, then Ensenada, then return to San Diego.  Due to a hurricane, we got routed the other direction since the hurricane was in Cabo the day we were to arrive, but we still got to see everything.  We cruised on the Carnival Cruise Lines ship, the Elation.

In Ensenada, for a shore excursion, we learned how to cook Mexican food at one of the local eateries.  We learned how to make Pico De Gallo, Guacamole, and tamales.  Then we shopped in town, which is quite the adventure.

In Cabo San Lucas, we took a catamaran ride of the bay, followed by a bus ride that took us to a glass blowing factory, into the town of Cabo, and made a stop at a Cactus garden.  We then got off the bus in Cabo San Lucas so we could stop by the best cantina in town, Cabo Wabo Cantina, for a margarita and a couple of shots of tequila.

A pilot is used to guide the ship out of the harbor.  Once at open water, the 'pilot' gets picked up by the pilot boat.  Fun to watch.

The usual scene while at sea.

Welcome to Ensenada.  A limited number of flags this size exist in Mexico.
