The day was June 29, 2005. I was in DC on business and happened to have
some spare time Wednesday night to catch a baseball game. The sky looked
like it might hold out long enough to get a game in, so we decided to give it a
try. Unfortunately, during the third inning, with the score 1-0, we had a
2 hour, 8 minute rain delay. Since I had to be to work by 6am the next day
and the train ride was a good hour from the ballpark to the hotel, I was unable
to see more than 2 and 2/3 innings of this game. I did stay up once I got
to the hotel to see the outcome since leaving early just didn't feel right.

Washington Monument |

Capital. Not a far walk from Washington Monument |

RFK Stadium. A very far walk from the capital, especially with bad
directions. |

The approach. |

Almost there, thank heavens. |

Ahhh, chair. Wow, this is definitely still the original chair from
when the Senators played here in the late 60s. |

Play ball! |

From our seats. |

From our seats. |

Left field. |

Centerfield scoreboard. |

Right field. A tribute to DC-area sports stars, including,
surprising enough, Josh Gibson of the Negro Baseball League. |

Here comes the err..rain? and thunder and lightning.... |

It's raining, it's pouring... |

And now, for your viewing pleasure... |

..from the grounds crew at RFK... |

...in the heavy rain.... |

"How NOT to put a tarp on the field." |

Notice the third baseline still showing? OOPS! They tugged and
tugged to try to cover it, was quite amusing. |

And what do fans do in the rain? Hide in section 500 (and 300 under
us) and do the wave. |
